Welcome to the Armstrong Living Lab, a space designed to explore how ceilings and walls can support health and well-being in spaces where people live, work, learn, heal, and play.
In 2020 at the height of the pandemic, Armstrong and Gensler collaborated on the design of the Living Lab, a pilot project for experimentation and feedback. In May of 2021, fifty Armstrong employees were invited to work in this new setting that focused on creating a space with outstanding indoor environmental quality (IEQ). As employees used the space, they provided feedback on technology, workspaces, amenities, design features, and more.
The Living Lab features Armstrong solutions that support the tenets of indoor environmental quality:
- Sound: TOTAL ACOUSTICS portfolio to design quieter, flexible acoustics for both open and closed plan spaces.
- Light: High light-reflective ceilings create brighter surroundings, and reduce glare and eyestrain.
- Sustainability: The SUSTAIN portfolio is the broadest in the industry, meeting the most stringent sustainability requirements. Learn more about our Sustainability commitment and 2030 goals.
As needs change, the Living Lab remains a place of experimentation and modification. Armstrong teams continue to test new technologies and integrated solutions with internal and external stakeholders, providing feedback and data that can lead to new offerings. A recent example includes the AWI + AWAIR Healthy Schools Program, a partnership to bring IEQ monitoring solutions to educational environments.
We invite you to take a look around, and hope this space inspires you.
