The 15/16" Prelude XL Fire Guard Grid System features main beams with a patented thermal expansion relief notch to help maintain structural integrity of the ceiling to meet code requirements. These main beams can be installed with our standard Prelude cross tees, wall molding, and appropriate ceiling panels for residential code applications. They may also be paired with Textured Fire Guard ceiling panels (915) and XL8300 series cross tees to achieve fire-resistant UL ratings.

Fire GuardFIRE GUARD ceilings are specially formulated to provide enhanced resistance against structural failure. FIRE GUARD grid components help maintain structural integrity of the ceiling. FIRE GUARD main beams have patented expansion relief. |
Armstrong Ceilings' 7400R and 8300 Main Beams have a patented thermal expansion relief notch to help maintain the structural integrity of the ceiling in the event of a fire.
Applies corrosion-resistant zinc finish on our steel grid protecting it from rust. The zinc coating thickness may vary and is designated by a G series, such as G-60 or G-90. The higher the G number the more resistant it will be to moisture.
Engineered for a strong, secure connection and fast, accurate alignment confirmed with audible click; easy to remove/relocate.
Process by which two vertical layers of steel are stitched together to form a stronger, singular piece; offers greater torsional strength and stability during installation. Armstrong Ceilings is the only grid manufacturer to employ this technology.
